United Way Volunteers Hit the Streets Friday, October 14, for Plymouth Blitz

Plymouth, Indiana – United Way of Marshall County’s (UWMC) 2016 Campaign is in full swing across the county. Teams of volunteers are busy canvassing businesses and organizations in Argos, Bourbon, Bremen, Culver, Donaldson, Lapaz, and communities in between raising support for 22 nonprofit organizations. Volunteers will be in Plymouth full force on Friday, October 14, from 1-5 pm visiting retail businesses during a $100 x 100 campaign. “Collectively, a $100 contribution makes a big difference,” said 2016 United Way Campaign Chair, Rodney Jacobs. “Too many families are struggling to make ends meet in our community. This small investment helps local families with vital services, like immunizations for at-risk children, trips to training programs to help secure employment, or providing meals for home-bound senior citizens.”

This year a $100 gift has even more impact! A 1:1 match for new or increased giving starts with a minimum $100 contribution. The match grant, from the Indiana Association of United Ways and funded by Lilly Endowment, may bring an additional $50,000 into the community. “United Way has unique opportunities to bring outside resources to help address the most pressing needs in the community,” said United Way Executive Director, Linda Yoder. “One of the most recent programs funded through this type of grant is Kindergarten Countdown, helping 150 children get ready for that first day of school.”

Campaign Chair, Rodney Jacobs and his volunteer teams are sharing a clear message with individuals and organizations across the county: Together, connected, we can bring change. Together we build the strength of our neighborhoods. We bolster the health of our communities. And we change the lives of those who walk by us every day.
