Leadership Marshall County, a joint program between the Marshall County Community Foundation and the United Way of Marshall County, held a graduation for the participants of Class XXVI on May 12, 2021, at the Marshall County Philanthropy Center.
Leadership Marshall County is a nine-month program that takes place September through May and is dedicated to cultivating today’s leaders to serve tomorrow’s community by building a solid foundation of informed, action-oriented employees and citizens.
Participants gain valuable exposure to Marshall County community leaders, programs, and service initiatives while engaging in interactive assignments which raise community awareness and action. Involvement in group projects encourages further investigation into long-term community goals, strategies, and planning objectives.
The number of LMC participants since the program’s start in 1995 now totals 400. Regina Emberton and Gary Neidig were the guest speakers for the evening. Due to various COVID-19 restrictions, group projects looked slightly different this year. Groups explored current topics or challenges facing Marshall County and offered ideas on how to bring about positive change. These areas were: (1) Workplace and Industry, (2) Education, (3) Diversity, and (4) Mental Health.
