September 2, 2021 (Plymouth, Indiana) – The United Way of Marshall County regrets to announce that the 2021 Annual Meeting previously scheduled to occur in-person on September 9 will shift to a virtual platform due to alarming COVID-19 community spread in Marshall County.
The United Way annual business meeting will be conducted virtually on Thursday, September 9, at 11:30am. A Zoom link will be sent to those who RSVP online here.
The United Way Awards Luncheon originally scheduled to follow the business meeting has been cancelled. Alternative plans are under way for celebrating and recognizing 2020 United Way campaign award winners.
At the core of the United Way’s mission lies a commitment to fighting for the health of the community. Though a difficult decision, the cancellation of the in-person event upholds this mission by eliminating a potential setting for COVID-19 to expand its grip on Marshall County.
Indiana State Department of Health reports show that Marshall County’s current positivity rate is above average while the vaccination rate lags state and national averages. The Marshall County Health Department is strongly urging all residents to take every step available to reduce the rampant spread of this virus, including getting vaccinated, wearing a mask indoors, and practicing proper hygiene techniques.
The Marshall County Health Department is currently giving out the FDA-approved Pfizer vaccine, as well as Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. Visit www.ourshot.in.gov or call (574) 935-8565 to make an appointment today.
